LIFE 2013 Kick-off Meeting 2014

A Kick-off meeting was held on 28 October at the Auditorium of the “Ministero dell’Ambiente della Tutela del Territorio e del Mare” (Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea) in Rome for 47 Italian projects co-funded by the European Commission within Call 2013.

The meeting was opened by the “Assessore all’Ambiente di Roma Capitale” (Councillor for the Environment of Rome), Estella Marino, and the National Delegate of the LIFE Committee, Giovanni Brunelli, of the “Direzione per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile il Clima e l’Energia del Ministero” (Ministerial Department for Sustainable Development, Climate and Energy), who welcomed the participants.

Officials from the LIFE Unit of the Department (Directorate General) for the Environment of the European Commission  (Els De Roeck and Thomas Foersch), the National Contact Point for LIFE (Stefania Betti) also attended together with representatives of the numerous members of the Astrale-Timesis Monitoring panel (Roberto Ghezzi, Michele Lischi, Chiara Caccamo, Ivan Norscia and Yael Meroz) and the beneficiaries selected for the Italian projects.

The National Contact Point began with a summary of the results achieved in Italy since the LIFE+ programme was implemented seven years ago and illustrated their role within the European programme. Speakers from the European Commission and the Monitoring panel then addressed the public, emphasizing the importance to the beneficiaries, of the common provisions and requirements governing project activities, the procedures for reporting expenditures and meeting the activity deadlines.

Lastly, the LIFE+ 2013 projects were presented including those related to Life+ Nature & Biodiversity as well as Life+ Environment.
